Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Laila S. Gonzalez is a partner at Freire & Gonzalez, P.A., where she focuses her practice on representing consumers in bankruptcy. Ms. Gonzalez works closely with a Spanish speaking clientele and works extensively to explain the U.S. Bankruptcy system to many whose first court encounter with the legal system is in filing for bankruptcy protection. Ms. Gonzalez emphasizes the options available to her clients and underscores to them that the process provides for a fresh financial start. She is a frequent lecturer at bankruptcy seminars for attorneys and judges.

2. Bernd Stittleburg the founding member of Stittleburg Law Offices, LLC, focuses his practice on consumer and individual bankruptcy, including Chapters 7 and 13, as well as Small Business Bankruptcy cases. He previously practiced at Ginsberg Law Offices, P.C., where he led the firm’s Bankruptcy Department. Mr. Stittleburg is a highly sought-after bankruptcy instructor, having lectured nationally on completing petitions and plans in Chapter 7 & 13, as well as bankruptcy implications for non-bankruptcy practitioners.

3. Mette H. Kurth is a Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring partner at Arent and Fox. She has extensive experience representing corporations in out-of-court workouts, bankruptcy, and bankruptcy alternatives, including hotels, casinos, hospitals, and retailers. She also has extensive experience representing official committees of unsecured creditors, including restaurant chains, major real estate developers, and footwear manufacturers. Ms. Kurth serves on the National Board of Directors of the Turnaround Management Association and is a former Board of Governor member of the Financial Lawyers Conference. She has spoken and written widely on corporate insolvency and restructuring.
