Erik Halverson is the Managing Attorney at Halverson Law, PLLC, where he focuses on the front lines of the cannabis industry. He began practicing in the area during the initial legalization phase in Colorado and following this up with providing business counsel to the top retailers and producer/processors in Washington State and nationwide. Through his various work with retailers, producer/processors and ancillary service companies, Mr. Halverson has gained a major footprint in both the regulatory and business side of cannabis clients. In his role as a marijuana business attorney, he has assisted in rehabilitating numerous retail and producer operations, obtaining licenses for clients, and navigating the complex and changing regulatory arena in the industry. Outside of representing cannabis and marijuana related clients, Mr. Halverson has been recognized as Pro Bono Attorney of the year by his colleagues for dedication to access to justice.

William S. Hackney is a Partner at SmithAmundsen LLC, where he is a member of the Cannabis, Banking & Financial Industry Practice Groups. Mr. Hackney helps clients analyze and resolve their financial issues, representing debtors, lenders, secured creditors, creditors' committees and trustees, among others, in all manners of chapter 11 and chapter 7 cases as well as out-of-court workouts and restructurings. He assists financial institutions and cannabis-related businesses on the interaction between state cannabis laws and federal banking and bankruptcy laws. Mr. Hackney also acts as outside bankruptcy counsel to a number of corporations and provides general business counseling in distressed situations, and represents a number of his clients in their FDCPA, FCRA, and similar consumer finance defense claims. Mr. Hackney is on the panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for his federal district court and in that role is a fiduciary responsible for the preservation, liquidation, and distribution of assets in both consumer and commercial chapter 7 cases.
