Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Colleen Bratkovich practices at Zacharia Brown, where she focuses on Medicaid Planning and Eligibility, Veterans’ Benefits, and related Estate Planning and Estate Administration issues. Ms. Bratkovich is accredited by the Veteran’s Administration to represent Veterans in their claims before the Department. Prior to her legal career, Ms. Bratkovichn worked at St. Francis Hospital and Three Rivers Health Plans, now part of United Health Plans. She is a highly sought-after lecturer on Elder Law topics and has taught various seminars including continuing education classes for lawyers, accountants and nursing home administrators. Ms. Bratkovich can be heard broadcasting for several Elder Law Radio programs.

2. Lissett C. Ferreira is a Partner at Meenan & Associates, LLC, where she is a passionate and experienced advocate for families and individuals in transition, from marriage to divorce, birth of kids to death, and illness or disability to aging. She serves as the chair of the firm’s Elder Law and Family Law & Divorce practice groups, with a particular emphasis on guardianship, Medicaid, divorce, and prenuptial/marital agreements. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Ferreira served for nearly a decade as a senior court attorney for a state court judge, first in a matrimonial part, and thereafter in a guardianship part. In that capacity, she was involved in hundreds of matrimonial and guardianship matters, developing unparalleled insight and breadth of knowledge in these highly specialized areas of the law. Ms. Ferreira assists clients with developing and implementing proper estate planning, helping clients with wills, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills and guardianship designations. Ms. Ferreira has lectured on guardianships for various bar associations, and regularly presents at community workshops on estate, special needs and Medicaid planning. Most recently, she assisted in organizing and sponsoring various CLEs as co-Chair of her state bar's Elder Law & Disabilities Committee. Ms. Ferreira is a graduate of Brown University and the Fordham University School of Law.

3. Avery J. Mayne practices at Walny Legal Group LLC, where she focuses her practic on guardianships, special needs, divorce and long-term care planning. She concentrates her practice in family law, elder law and guardianship. As part of Ms. Mayne’s Elder Law practice, she helps families and individuals with Medicaid (Title XIX) asset protection planning. Additionally she assists clients seeking eligibility for long-term care benefits in the pre-planning and crisis planning stages. When working with families for specialized disability and special needs planning, Ms. Mayne utilizes special needs trusts and other unique planning tools available for individuals with special needs. She also represents clients with disabled family members in adult guardianship proceedings. In guardianship actions, Ms. Mayne is experienced with petitioning, defending, and serving in the fiduciary guardian role in high conflict matters.
