Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Jacob Stein is one of the nation's leading experts on asset protection. He is a Certified Tax Law Specialist and AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Stein is the author of numerous articles on asset protection and tax planning, and is the author of Asset Protection Planning (Education Foundation, 2007), currently in its 5th edition, and Advanced Tax Planning Techniques (Education Foundation, 2007). Mr. Stein's article Building Stumbling Blocks: A Practical Take on Charging Orders appeared in the October 2006 issue of RIA's Business Entities Magazine and is considered the seminal article on the topic of LLC charging orders. His article on Advanced Asset Protection and Tax Planning is considered the staple in effective planning with LLCs. Mr. Stein has taught thousands of attorneys nationally on the most effective strategies of protecting assets and advanced tax planning. He has served as an adjunct professor of taxation and has spoken at numerous times before bar and CPA associations.

2. Robert C. Lawrence III is a leading authority in international and domestic tax, trust, succession, and personal planning matters. He is Chairman of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP's Private Client Practice Group. Mr. Lawrence advises high net worth individuals and families regarding tax-efficient structures for their U.S. and global holdings, with emphasis on the minimization of taxation, the management of holdings, and their transfer to family members, entities, trusts and/or charities. In addition, he assists with dispute resolution among and between families, family members, and fiduciaries. He has been recognized for excellence in practice by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, and Euromoney's Top U.S. Tax Lawyers, among others. He has written extensively on trust and estate planning, including a seminal treatise, International Tax and Estate Planning: A Practical Guide for Multinational Investors, and also serves as an editor of Lawrence: International Personal Tax Planning Encyclopedia. Mr. Lawrence is a member of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the International Academy of Estates and Trust Law. He holds an LL.B. and LL.M. in Taxation from NYU Law School.

3. Dean C. Berry practices at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where he counsels clients on developing and implementing tax-efficient strategies for the management and transfer of private wealth, with a focus on complex U.S. and international trust and estate planning. In his estate planning practice, Mr. Berry advises U.S. and foreign clients on the U.S. personal income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax laws. He also has experience representing clients in tax audits, appeals and litigation. In the area of estate and trust administration, he advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries with respect to probate, the prudent investor standard for investments, fiduciary accountings, controversies, and related court proceedings. Mr. Berry also advises and assists philanthropic donors in making charitable gifts. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Mr. Berry also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.
