Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Jill Miller is the principal of Jill Miller & Associates, P.C., where she focuses on formulating sophisticated and highly personalized estate plans for individuals and families with the objectives of minimizing estate taxes and family discord. She also has a particular expertise in estate matters affecting non-US citizens and non-traditional families. She takes a detailed and practical approach to the administration of estates. Complicated probate issues are addressed and resolved. Estate tax returns are prepared to minimize the risk of audit. Ms. Miller has over 25 year of experience in working in trusts and estates law. She is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is a frequent lecturer on estate planning at both private and public symposia. She is currently the Director of the Estate Planning Clinic and adjunct professor of Law at Cornell Law School and was an Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law School, teaching “Trusts and Estates” from 2005 to 2014. Ms. Miller is “AV Preeminent” Peer Review rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is named as a Super Lawyer.

2. Katya Sverdlov is the founding member of Sverdlov Law PLLC, where she counsels clients and their loved ones in planning for long term care, quality of life, autonomy, and asset preservation. Her practice focuses on estate planning, probate and estate administration, Medicaid planning, elder law, and business succession matters. Prior to law school, Ms. Sverdlov spent twelve years working for several top Wall Street financial companies. Her experience includes senior positions in investment banking and securities industries, providing a unique ability to deal with complicated financial matters. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), can understand the tax problems, accounting issues, investment portfolios and general business matters of her clients. Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Sverdlov worked for two prominent law firms, representing dozens of clients with issues ranging from business succession planning and complicated estate tax matters to Medicaid planning and fraud investigations. She is a graduate of Cornell University & Brooklyn Law School. Ms. Sverdlov is a sought-after lecturer on asset protection, estate planning, Medicaid planning, and tax planning.

3. John R. Bedosky is a partner at Hinman, Howard & Kattell, where he is a member of the firm’s Trusts, Estates, and Wealth Planning Practice Group. Mr. Bedosky has extensive experience in a variety of estate planning matters, including business succession planning; family wealth accumulation, preservation and transfer planning; estate and trust administration; fiduciary litigation; and related taxation matters. His clients include businesses, families, and individuals. He works closely with those clients to devise and develop plans to protect their assets and family wealth and ensure seamless transitions between multiple generations. Mr. Bedosky is a widely sought-after speaker on estate planning and estate administration, lecturing to attorneys, CPA's, and as an Adj. Prof. of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School, the University of St. Thomas and William Mitchell College of Law, an adjunct business taxation professor at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
