Biography of Seminar Faculty: 1.
Richard M. Blau is a Shareholder at GrayRobinson, P.A., where he is Chairman of the firm's Alcohol Beverage, Food and Regulated Products Department, and heads up the firm’s Medical Marijuana Law Group focusing on the rules and regulations that govern the production, processing, distribution, marketing, dispensing and consumption of medical marijuana and other cannabis-related products. Mr. Blau Richard has been rated “Band 1” for Alcohol Beverage Law by Chambers USA since 2007. He also is listed in Best Lawyers in America, and is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell. A substantial portion of Mr. Blau’s professional efforts are focused on trade regulations, litigation and dispute resolution involving the alcohol and medical marijuana industries. He has industry specific experience in the areas of administrative practice and regulatory compliance, advertising and promotional law, importation matters and supplier/distribution relations. Mr. Blau is a highly-sought after lecturer and author on marijuana legalization, related administrative rule-making process, and the interaction between federal and state marijuana laws. He has been interviewed extensively on marijuana law issues by radio, television and print media outlets. Mr. Blau is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.

Maxwell L. Minch is a Shareholder at GrayRobinson, P.A., where he focuses on Cannabis & Marijuana Regulation, intellectual property law, licensing and technology transfer. Max also has provided litigation support in several patent and other intellectual property related cases. His litigation experience includes representation for cases involving intellectual property or technology transactions, including patent and trademark infringements, inter partes patent reviews, licensing disputes, and trademark oppositions and cancellations. Mr. Minch has been significantly involved in the startup community by assisting many emerging growth companies as their general counsel, corporate counsel or intellectual property counsel. In addition, he has experience working with incubators and entrepreneur organizations to provide coaching and learning seminars to support the startup ecosystem. Mr. Minch as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches the “Entrepreneur Legal Practicum.” Prior to joining GrayRobinson, he served as the in-house general counsel for Banyan Biomarkers Inc. During his general counsel Experience, he established the company’s legal and intellectual property department, prepared US and foreign patent applications in the biomedical field, managed the company’s patent portfolio, oversaw the company’s scientific publications, in addition to negotiating the company’s contracts and licenses. Additionally, he helped navigate Department of Defense and National Institute of Health grant compliance and assisted with interpretation of FDA regulations for negotiating clinical trial agreements for the approval of a medical diagnostic. Mr. Minch holds a Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Engineering, Master of Science in Biomedical Engineerng, and Juris Doctor degrees, all from the University of Florida. He served in the United States Navy for six years, four of which were aboard submarines. He completed Electronics Technician ‘A’ School, Naval Nuclear Power School and served aboard the USS Pasadena (SSN752) as electronics technician and reactor operator.

Garrett O. Graff practices at Hoban Law, the nation's premier cannabis business law firm, serving clients across the country with medical and adult use marijuana businesses as well as those operating in the industrial hemp sector. Mr. Graff specializes in representation of both the marijuana and industrial hemp industries. For these clients, and others, his practice involves corporate and transactional law, real estate law, regulatory/compliance law, FDA/FTC compliance, intellectual property law, and civil and commercial litigation. He counsels clients regarding corporate structuring and re-structuring, acquisition and sale of real property and leasehold interests, drafting of transactional documents such as governing documents (operating agreements, by-laws and more), resolving partnership disputes and litigating commercial disputes. Within the marijuana industry, Mr. Graff represents numerous companies seeking licensure across the country, and maintaining ongoing compliance with the evolving regulatory schemes. He also assists clients with the license of related intellectual property assets to expand clients' presence in other jurisdictions. With respect to industrial hemp businesses, he represents numerous companies across the United States engaged in various aspects of the hemp industry, including import/export of hemp materials and products, cultivation of hemp materials, and manufacturing and distribution of hemp-derived products. Many clients experiencing issues with either federal, state or local law enforcement or regulatory agencies seek Mr. Graff's advice with regard to resolving such matters. Additionally, clients seek his advice relating to both federal and state compliance with laws and regulatory compliance such as FDA or state-level equivalents, such as packaging/labeling, website content and other product representations. Garrett also serves on the legal committee of the National Hemp Association. Mr. Graff has testified in judicial proceedings regard the legal and regulatory schemes concerning industrial hemp and has spoken at several conferences and industry events regarding various issues concerning marijuana and industrial hemp law.
