Benefits: Representing clients seeking veterans benefits and claims under social security & disability laws have recently become among the most popular and steady practice areas. Social security programs are a significant source of cash and health benefits for individuals with disabilities. However, the procedures and formalities of a large federal agency can be intimidating for an unrepresented claimant. Related and often parallel issues arise in the context of veterans’ benefits. Nearly two million veterans have returned from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of the 1.3 million veterans who have been discharged since 2001, almost half have filed for disability compensation claims.
