Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Mary S. Holland is the General Counsel and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Children's Health Defense. Ms. Holland has fought long and hard in the vaccination choice and safety movement. In the last fifteen years, she has co-written and edited two books, Vaccine Epidemic and The HPV Vaccine on Trial, and co-founded two non-profits, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy and the Center for Personal Rights. In addition, Ms. Holland has published seminal legal articles on critical dimensions of vaccine law and policy: constitutionality; herd immunity; liability for injury; and the connection between vaccines and autism. On behalf of many organizations, Ms. Holland has submitted amicus briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court in Bruesewitz v. Wyeth, a case about manufacturer liability, and to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Cedillo v. HHS about vaccine-induced autism. She serves on the advisory boards for Health Choice, the Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge, and the Otto Specht School and Endeavor 21+, Waldorf communities for children and young adults with learning differences. She has addressed legislators in numerous states across the nation on vaccine law and policy. She has held briefings on Capitol Hill and at the United Nations, capturing international attention. Ms. Holland has been a professor on the faculties of Columbia Law School and the New York University School of Law for the past eighteen years. She taught courses on human rights and recently retired as the Director of the NYU Graduate Lawyering Program.

2. Altom M. Maglio is the Managing Partner of Maglio Christopher & Toale, PA, where he is trial lawyer representing individuals across the United States in complex civil litigation. Mr. Maglio focuses on vaccine injury compensation, metal on metal hip litigation, construction & commercial litigation, as well as real estate conversions/land takings. He has served as the Co-Chair of the American Association for Justice Vaccine Injury Litigation Group, comprised of the trial lawyers that represent patients that suffer rare severe adverse reactions to vaccinations. Mr. Maglio has served as the President of the United States Court of Federal Claims Bar Association, a 501(c)(3) entity comprised of the private and Department of Justice attorneys that practice before the federal court of national jurisdiction hearing cases involving certain claims against the United States. Mr. Maglio was appointed to the Personal Injury/Product Liability review team of the Duke Law Center for Judicial Studies for the draft Guidelines Implementing the Discovery Proportionality Factors. He is the founding officer of the Vaccine Injured Petitioner’s Bar Association, comprised of attorneys that represent individuals suffering severe adverse vaccine reactions before the United States Court of Federal Claims. Mr. Maglio is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law.

3. Dr. Jae Hong Lee is a trial lawyer and physician at Dechert LLP, where he represents clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device, dietary supplement, food, cosmetics, consumer products, and aviation industries. Dr. Lee has litigated individual actions, class actions, and multidistrict litigation across a broad range of matters in the fields of product liability, toxic torts, trade secrets, patent disputes, FDA regulation, Proposition 65, concussions, and advertising disputes. As a trial lawyer, Dr. Lee has experience in all stages of litigation, having represented clients in pre-litigation case assessment, pleadings, fact discovery, expert discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, trial, and post-trial motion practice. He has deposed numerous fact and expert witnesses, and has cross-examined fact and expert witnesses at trial. Dr. Lee has briefed and argued dispositive motions, Daubert motions, discovery motions, and evidentiary motions in both state and federal courts. He has maintained an active pro bono practice. Dr. Lee led the expert discovery team in Vietnam Veterans of America v. Central Intelligence Agency, helping to obtain health care benefits for military veterans who were the subjects of chemical and biological warfare experiments. He has been awarded his state bar's Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services twice over the course of his career. As a medical professional, Dr. Lee uses his expertise in public health, FDA regulations, quantitative methods, clinical research, basic science research, and biophysics to inform his practice. He has degrees from Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Harvard School of Public Health, and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Dr. Lee completed a surgical internship at Yale prior to performing clinical research for five years at UCLA in traumatic brain injury and cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Lee has given numerous presentations at national and international conferences and frequently delivers seminars and webinars for clients. His publications include articles and commentary in legal journals, peer-reviewed medical journals and newspapers, including Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Law360, Skywritings, Berkeley Technology Law Journal, The Baltimore Sun, Ventura County Star, The Laryngoscope, Experimental Neurology, Journal of Neurotrauma, Pediatrics and The Lancet. He also co-authored a book chapter, “Pharmaceutical Product Liability,” in Principles and Practice of Pharmaceutical Medicine (3rd Ed.).
