Biography of Expert Faculty:

1. Amy J. Benjamin is a national authority on intellectual property. She has practiced in the intellectual property group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as well as a partner at the IP boutique, Darby & Darby, P.C. She focuses on all areas of intellectual property law including trademark, copyright, and unfair competition, advertising and First Amendment litigation, counseling and procurement. She has significant experience with Internet, new media and on-line matters such as key word and pop-up advertising and domain name issues. Ms. Benjamin manages significant trademark portfolios with U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, and provides clearance opinion and counseling services to her clients. She has extensive litigation experience in intellectual property matters in Federal Court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including trying cases before a jury and arguing appeals before the T.T.A.B. and the Federal and Second Circuit Courts of Appeals. Ms. Benjamin frequently speaks and writes on intellectual property issues and has been published in the National Law Journal, the Licensing Journal, Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, Bright Ideas and Euro-Watch. On behalf of the American Intellectual Property law Association, she authored an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd. She has been recognized as a SuperLawyer and in Who's Who for excellence in practice.

2. Kevin Grierson is a leading authority on trademark law. A Member of FisherBroyles, LLP, he focuses his practice on trademark prosecution, software licensing and patent and trademark portfolio management for businesses ranging from hi-tech startups to established Fortune 500 companies. He assists clients in all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent and trademark prosecution, infringement analysis, domain name cybersquatting issues, and all forms of intellectual property licensing. Mr. Grierson is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is also active in the intellectual property community. He has served as a former member of the board of directors of the National Association of Patent Practitioners and has been an active member of the International Trademark Association's Bulletin Committee. Mr. Grierson is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.

3. Russell Beck is a leading expert on trade secrets and noncompetes, with over twenty years of experience as a complex business and intellectual property litigator. A founding member of Beck Reed Riden, he represents corporate and individual clients throughout the country. In addition to his many years of experience advising and litigating on these matters, Mr. Beck authored the book, Negotiating, Drafting, and Enforcing Noncompetition Agreements and Related Restrictive Covenants; authored the chapters, Trade Secret Misappropriation and Noncompetition Agreements for Intellectual Property Practice; drafted the current bill pending before a state legislature to define, codify, and improve his state's noncompetition law; founded and chaired Foley & Lardner LLP’s Trade Secret / Noncompete Practice; and teaches Trade Secrets and Restrictive Covenants at Boston University School of Law. Mr. Beck is also frequently called upon to advise clients concerning the prevention and minimization of litigation risk, including the preparation of noncompetition agreements, nondisclosure agreements, no-raid agreements, nonsolicitation agreements, and other restrictive covenants; the performance of trade secret audits and establishment of comprehensive trade secret protection programs; and preparation of alternative dispute resolution agreements. Mr. Beck has spoken and written widely across the country on trade secret law and noncompetes.
