Biography of Seminar Faculty: 1. Jorge M. Abril has practiced law for over 30 years. He primarily represents businesses throughout both the United States and abroad in the field of consumer and commercial collections and related litigation; including post judgment remedies, supplementary proceedings, fraudulent conveyances, and shareholder liability. Additionally, Mr. Abril maintains an active practice in the area of healthcare reimbursement. The Abril firm represents hospitals, physicians and ancillary providers in managed care litigation and healthcare revenue cycle matters. Mr. Abril is a frequent lecturer in issues including the FDCPA, the FCRA, HIPPA, TCPA, TILA, Hospital lien enforcement, and numerous other credit, collection, consumer privacy, and healthcare reimbursement matters.
2. Matthew A. Lipman practices at McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, where he focuses on complex litigation matters, particularly those involving fraud. He regularly represents large insurance companies in subrogation and recovery matters related to fidelity bonds and employee dishonestly insurance policies. He has assisted corporate and private clients recover millions of dollars from individuals who fraudulently transferred assets, secreted funds, committed fraud and orchestrated Ponzi schemes. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving piercing the corporate veil. Just last year, Mr. Lipman successfully pierced the veil of an LLC and obtained a six-figure verdict for his client. In addition to fraud and collection law, Mr. Lipman has lectured and published widely on surety and construction issues. Mr. Lipman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers University.
