Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Paul C. Jorgensen is a leading authority on intellectual property and Internet law. Mr. Jorgensen focuses his practice on providing dynamic intellectual property, contract and Internet legal counsel to individuals, organizations and companies. He previously practiced at Patton Boggs as well as with Venable, Baetjer, Howard & Civiletti. Prior to his years with Patton Boggs, Mr. Jorgensen was Senior Intellectual Property Counsel with a large hotel chain, where he managed a large worldwide portfolio of trademarks, copyrights, domain names and trade secrets, and where he designed and managed profitable licensing programs. His work has been included in the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice as well as the nationally published book “Model Witness Examinations.” Through this experience, Mr. Jorgensen has successfully prosecuted many U.S. and international trademark, copyright, domain name applications, and has designed and negotiated hundreds of successful contracts and licenses. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center.

2. Eric Goldman is an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the High Tech Law Institute at Santa Clara University Law School. His research and teaching focuses on Internet law, intellectual property and marketing law. Prior to becoming a law professor, he practiced at Cooley Godward and served as General Counsel of an Internet start-up company. Prof. Goldman also served as an adjunct professor at UC Berkeley Law School. He blogs on Internet law matters at the Technology & Marketing Law Blog. Prof. Goldman holds a J.D./M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

3. Domingo J. Rivera is one of the foremost authorities on cyber defamation in the country. Mr. Rivera spent nearly two decades as a computer programmer, before pursuing a career as a cyberlaw and social media attorney. Initially an engineer for the United States Navy, Mr. Rivera drafted electrical engineering plans for the Armed Forces, and ultimately served as lead engineer for the construction of the Department of Defense’s state-of-the art Information Technology facility. Mr. Rivera also has experience advising attorneys and law firms regarding the technical aspects of legal issues related to information technology and electronic evidence. He was the first attorney in the United States to win a complex jury trial involving Federal Copyright Infringement, music piracy criminal allegations. He is an international authority on cyber defamation and has been called upon to provide insight for BBC, before millions of worldwide listeners. Mr. Rivera's firm and cases have been featured or reported on by The New York Times and The Washington Post, among others.
