Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Scott N. Godes is a Partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he serves as Co-chair of the firm’s Data Security and Privacy practice. Mr. Godes represents clients facing cybersecurity, data breach, cyberattack, privacy and other technology-related claims. He also focuses on insurance coverage for cybersecurity and privacy risks. Mr Godes has litigated some of the few court cases regarding the scope of coverage available under cyber insurance policies, as well as coverage under other insurance policies for losses due to cyberattacks, privacy events, and wire and computer frauds. He has litigated and advised clients regarding insurance coverage for cyber security issues, business email compromises and CEO fraud, network failures, advertising injury, libel, ransomware and personal injury claims. He previously served as in-house counsel to an internet company.

2. Damon W.D. Wright is a Partner at Venable LLP, where he represents web-based businesses, e-commerce retailers, technology companies, and lead generators. Mr. Wright focuses on advertising, intellectual property, First Amendment, consumer, and regulatory compliance law. He handles business disputes, trademark and copyright, false advertising, government investigations, defamation, right of publicity, fraud, trade secret, media relations, and other high-stakes matters. Mr. Wright understands the evolving legal and business issues facing Internet retailers. He is outside general counsel to the Subscription Trade Association and the Responsible Traffic Association. He maintains a national litigation practice while also providing responsive day-to-day and long-range advice to help clients protect themselves and achieve smart growth. Mr. Wright is a highly sought-after author and speaker on e-commerce law.

3. Melissa Krasnow is a Partner at VLP Law Group LLP whose practice encompasses the following: •Privacy, data security, big data, and artificial intelligence/chatbots; The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, financial services regulatory laws, state laws, European Union General Data Protection Regulation, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Controlling the Assault of Non-solicited Pornography and Marketing Act, and Telephone Consumer Protection Act; Data breaches and crisis situations, including preparation that involves written information security programs (e.g., organizational and employee), incident response plans, and tabletop exercises; Advice to boards of directors and senior executives (e.g., privacy, data security, and technology); Cyber-liability insurance policy review; Privacy policies and terms, especially regarding geolocation, big data, and artificial intelligence/chatbots; •Technology transactions; Master services agreements (e.g., cloud, communications, email and text messages, laboratory services, telecommunications, security, and payment services); Non-disclosure agreements; Business associate agreements; Data license agreements/big data initiatives; EU data processor agreements; •Mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Krasnow serves as a Bloomberg BNA editorial advisor, an expert commentator for the International Risk Management Institute on privacy and cyber risk and insurance and an Advisory Board member for the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She also is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US and a board leadership fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Ms. Krasnow is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law.
