Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Manny Pokotilow is a Partner at the Firm of Caesar, Rivise, Bernstein, Cohen & Pokotilow. He is recognized as one of the leading Intellectual Property lawyers in the country. For more than 40 years, his practice has consisted of all aspects of Intellectual Property law, particularly litigation, involving the enforcement of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Pokotilow devotes a substantial portion of his practice to consultation in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and computer matters, and in the registration of trademarks. He has been lead Intellectual Property counsel in numerous landmark cases involving patents, trademarks and copyrights, including Donsco Inc. v. Casper Corp; Apple Computer v. Franklin Computer; and Wawa, Inc. v. HaHa. A past chairman of the American Bar Association's Proprietary Rights in Software Committee of the Computer Law Division of the Section of Science and Technology, he has been recognized with numerous awards for excellence in intellectual property and patent litigation practice.

2. Roberta Jacobs-Meadway is a Member of Eckert Seamans, where she serves as the Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Group, as well as on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the firm. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway focuses her practice on trademarks, trade dress, unfair competition and copyright issues and includes licensing and litigation in the federal courts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has served as mediator in numerous trademark and copyright disputes. She has represented client in courts across the nation on diverse issues involving intellectual property. Ms. Jacobs-Meadway has received numerous awards for excellence in practice, include recognition as AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, awarded the Chambers Women in Leadership Award for Outstanding Contributions to Mentoring, selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for Intellectual Property, selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, and named Best Lawyers’ 2014 “Lawyer of the Year” for Trademark Law.

3. Miriam Claire Beezy is a Partner at BakerHostetler, where she focuses her intellectual property practice on trademark and copyright matters, including U.S. and international procurement, prosecution, transactions, enforcement, and disputes. She places an emphasis on commercializing IP, merchandising, brand extension, and brand management counseling, as well as IP rights and design protection and enforcement, including online enforcement. Ms. Beezy's client experience ranges from high-profile entertainment industry clients to biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry clients. Ms. Beezy served as chief trademark counsel of The Walt Disney Company, where she managed the corporation’s worldwide trademark portfolio, including obtaining, licensing and enforcing Disney’s trademark rights around the world. She has protected the intellectual property of many start-ups as well, and was selected as a candidate by the International Trademark Association to serve on the original board of directors of ICANN, the organization that develops rules and policies for Internet domain names. Ms. Beezy has spoken extensively on copyrights, co-branding agreements, using reality television to showcase products, brand management, obtaining regulatory approval, and advertising law.
