Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Christopher G. Brown is a named partner and experienced foreclosure litigator at Begos, Horgan & Brown LLP. Mr. Brown has significant experience in foreclosure matters and foreclosure mediation. He has been featured in many public accounts of legal and consumer press for two groundbreaking judgments in which he appeared and made historic victories in the mortgage industry. Mr. Brown is a highly sought-after speaker and resource on foreclosure matters and has spoken in many national seminars.

2. Patrick F. McManemin is a Partner at Patton Boggs and a leading authority on reorganizations and workouts of troubled and distressed obligations. He became one of the first board-certified civil trial lawyers in his state, representing business clients in a wide range of industries throughout North and South America, Asia and the Middle East. With more than 30 years’ experience, his practice has included major jury trials and commercial arbitrations, as well as a focus on reorganizations and workouts. Mr. McManemin has tried cases to verdict in state and federal courts throughout the country. He also advises senior management and board members on corporate governance and compliance issues, and avoidance or resolution of significant disputes in advance of litigation or mediation. Mr. McManemin involves attorneys from a wide range of the firm’s practice groups including Business, Corporate Finance and Bankruptcy, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Real Estate, Energy and Construction Projects and Infrastructure. He has written widely on mortgage banking.

3. Thomas M. Schehr is a Partner at Dykema, where he leads the Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice Group. He recently argued and won a preeminent case, in which a state Supreme Court reversed a Court of Appeals decision holding that that tens of thousands of foreclosures by advertisement conducted by Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc. were void ab initio. He also successfully defended a lender on claims under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and Fair Housing Act. Mr. Schehr obtained the first published decision finding a lender exempt under his state's Consumer Protection Act. He has represented several companies and shareholders in matters involving business combinations, shareholder rights, and derivative claims. Mr. Schehr published an article on the "The Home Affordable Modification Program and A New Wave of Consumer Finance Litigation."
