Sorry, SOLD (October, 2021) Sir Joshua Reynolds, 1723-1792, was the first president of the Royal Academy. The portrait for this medal was taken from a bust, which is displayed in the Academy's vestibule. At the time this medal was created, the painting from which the reverse design was taken was in the Imperial Collection in St. Petersburg and reported to be in deplorable condition.
