1,2-Indanedione is a ninhydrin analogue that responds to amino acids and causes latent prints to fluoresce under a forensic light source. It is similar to DFO Spray but is reported to develop 46% more latent prints. 1,2-Indanedione is for use on porous surfaces and can be enhanced with a Zinc Chloride/HFE-7100 spray.
Our 1,2-Indanedione HFE-7100 Based Solution is packaged as a set of premeasured liquids that will be mixed before use in a 125 mL bottle. Once mixed, it should be applied and allowed to air-dry for about 2-3 minutes. Next, the item should be heated in an oven at 100 C (212 F) for approximately 10-20 minutes. If desired, the item can be sprayed with a Zinc Chloride/HFE-7100 spray to further enhance the intensity of the print.
To view the developed print, use a green forensic light source approximately 530 nm) with an orange or red filter. The print should be photographed and kept as evidence.
Note: Though not usual, our 1,2-Indanedione HFE-7100 Based Solution, depending on the quantity ordered, may require an additional hazardous shipping charge be added. We will contact you if this is the case.
