Course 001 Treating Clinical Depression Through a Wider Lens: Calming the Brain Through Mindfulness

This course will explore depression from a neurobiological perspective, utilizing mindfulness-based techniques as an ancillary to treatment. Consideration will be given to understanding clinical depression from a fundamental neurobiological perspective, which will set the stage for delivering enhanced treatment for clients suffering from depression, anxiety, and emotional deregulation and other disorders.

Presenter: Deborah C. Moore, Ph.D., LMFT. Deborah is an educator and author of two books: “The Mindfulness Response: Inner Happiness Every Day,” and “Who Helps the Helper: Proven Stress Management Techniques for Law Enforcement Officers.” Deborah has been featured on various radio media outlets addressing depression, stress management, and well-being. She is also an adjunct professor of psychology and marriage and family therapy. A retired lieutenant from the New York City Police Department, her areas of research include neurobiology of depression and anxiety, motivation and learning, and memory enhancement.
