Can Candy Save Christmas?

$15.99 $11.00 HOLIDAY SALE

Santa's North Pole compound is a happy place to work until one year things go haywire. The elves work extra hard, and the animals step in to help with the increased demand for toys. Santa and the reindeer take flight on Christmas Eve, but the sleigh is too heavy, and the reindeer are in danger. With Christmas at stake, Santa presses on, but the sleigh falls apart and the team is forced to make an emergency landing in Alaska. Though Santa and his team eventually make it home, the prospects of another Christmas are grim. The remarkable talent of an unusual new baby reindeer named Rosebud inspires Santa's wife Candy to devise a way to change their Christmas habits and fix it so Santa won't have trouble delivering presents ever again. This book is a chapter book and is perfect for young readers ages 8 and up.

The inspiration for this book came from the creatures that lived in the ravines that bordered the author’s home. Often a mother deer and her baby would visit Mary Ann’s yard. The mother would stand up on her hind legs to eat the fresh green leaves from the trees. When the baby tried to mimic her mother, she would fall over and throw a tantrum. The young deer would lower her head and swing it back and forth, kicking up her legs as she ran across the lawn. Then she would come to a screeching halt in front of the window, huffing and puffing until she got over her angry spell. This amusing scenario prompted the inspiration of Rosebud and the story, “Can Candy Save Christmas?”
