Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Christina Berish is a Partner at Thompson Coburn LLP, where she serves as a legal advisor and trial counsel to a diverse portfolio of clients. She is experienced in handling all stages of litigation & corporate law – both in and out of the courtroom & boardroom – and has represented clients across the country. Some of her notable areas of representation have involved contract enforcement, shareholder disputes, fraud, business torts, warranty matters, property litigation, appeals, and arbitration. She has been recognized by her peers, in “SuperLawyers” each year since 2009. Ms. Berish has represented clients in many sectors including manufacturing & steel, financial, telecommunications, consulting, construction & building materials, accounting, and education, in addition to non-profit organizations. She is a graduate of the University Michigan Law School.

2. Brandon M. Schwartz is a corporate trial attorney with Schwartz Law Firm. He is certified by his state bar as a civil trial specialist. Mr. Schwartz focuses his practice primarily on business law and business litigation involving such matters as shareholder disputes, derivative actions, contract creation and litigation, company formation, and discrimination. He is a frequent speaker and author on business and commercial litigation in publications and seminars nationally. Mr. Schwartz has been listed in Super Lawyers multiple times, is a life-member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, received a Lifetime Achievement Award from America’s Top 100 Attorneys, and is a Lifetime Member of Best Attorneys of America. 3. Steven Gorin is a Partner at Thompson Coburn and a nationally recognized practitioner in the areas of estate planning and the structuring of privately held businesses. Mr. Gorin crafts estate plans for individuals, keeping in mind their financial security and desire to save income and estate tax. In his work for businesses, he helps owners plan for the eventual sale (to co-owners, employees, or third parties) or transfer (to family members), and provides a legal framework for an orderly transition while strategically saving income, transfer, and FICA taxes. Drawing on his background as an accountant — and his still-current CPA license and Chartered Global Management Accountant credential — Mr. Gorin structures businesses to achieve business objectives and save income or estate tax. He has helped fledgling businesses organize, thriving businesses restructure to save hundreds of thousands of dollars of income tax when planning a transition to the next ownership group, and mature multi-million or billion-dollar businesses plan tax-saving transfers to the next generation. Over the course of his 30-year career, he has amassed a deep knowledge of nearly every aspect of tax strategy for privately held businesses and freely shares that knowledge with others in the field. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
