Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Ronald S. Canter is a nationally recognized authority on creditor’s rights and the regulation of collection practices. He served as counsel of record for the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys in Heintz v. Jenkins, the first Fair Debt Collection Practices Act case to reach the Supreme Court. He has nearly three decades of litigation experience, representing creditors, attorneys and collection agencies in complex litigation in both Federal and state courts. Mr. Canter also advises clients on regulatory, compliance and operations under Federal and State laws relating to consumer protection and consumer financial services. He has earned an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, is listed as a SuperLawyer, and has received numerous awards for professionalism and commitment to pro bono for, among others, a 26-year long representation, without fee, of a quadriplegic client who sustained a catastrophic work related injury in 1981. Mr. Canter serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law.

2. Jeffrey Ward has practiced in the field of collection litigation for nearly two decades. Mr. Ward litigates collection matters in complex matters and has tried numerous collection matters to verdict. He represents businesses, insurance companies, banks, student loan companies, and debt buyers in their collection matters. Mr. Ward has also served as an adjunct faculty member, lecturing on litigation & collection law.
