Biography of Seminar Faculty:

1. Rishi Bhandari is a nationally respected trial lawyer, based in New York City. He is a Founding Partner of Mandel Bhandari LLP, where he concentrates on complex business litigation. In 2009 alone, Mr. Bhandari was co-lead counsel in two jury trials, which both resulted in unqualified verdicts in favor of Bhandari’s clients. In addition, he has negotiated the settlement of claims worth more than $20,000,000. Mr. Bhandari started his legal career at the business litigation powerhouse Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, where he represented Fortune 500 companies, formulated the litigation strategy on behalf of one of the world's largest dairy producers, and worked closely with a major Hollywood talent agency embroiled in a legal malpractice and bad faith insurance action. He represented billion dollar hedge funds, sizable private equity funds, and many different types of operating companies ranging from the publisher of business-to-business magazines to one of the nation's largest temporary staffing agencies to a leading manufacturer of video game accessories. Mr. Bhandari is a graduate of NYU Law School.

2. David Markowitz is one of the most sought after trial lawyers in the country. He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, honored as Portland's 2010 “Bet-the-Company" Litigator of the Year, is a fellow and former chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers, is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and has been listed as one of the Top Ten Oregon Litigators by the National Law Journal and Oregon Super Lawyers. He is recognized by Chambers USA as one of the top commercial litigators in Oregon and is one of few litigators ranked nationally. Mr. Markowitz is included in Lawdragon's 500 Leading Litigators in America and 500 Leading Plaintiffs' Lawyers in America. His commanding presence and keen instincts have made him a courtroom icon as he has represented countless victims to significant settlements and judgments. Over the last two decades, he has led Markowitz Herbold Glade & Mehlhaf from its beginning as an ambitious two-attorney litigation shop to its present status as one of the premier business litigation firms in the region. Mr. Markowitz is a graduate of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

3. Gregory J. Sanders is one of the leading trial attorneys in the Midwest and is a Member of Kipp and Christian, P.C. He is an AV peer review rated attorney who focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury litigation, product liability law, multidistrict litigation, insurance coverage, and professional malpractice. Mr. Sanders has been identified as one of Utah’s “Legal Elite” in litigation by Utah Business Magazine over multiple years. Before joining Kipp and Christian, he served as Deputy Attorney for Salt Lake County from 1980 to 1984. He served active duty with the U.S. Army JAG from 1977 to 1980 and retired as a Colonel with the Army Reserve in 2004. His last duty assignment was as Assistant Chief, Litigation Division, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency. He is a Fellow Litigation Council of America, a national trial attorney honor society. Mr. Sanders is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
