Twice Born Men: A Clinic of Regeneration by Harold Begbie and Carl Tuchy Palmieri
The purpose of this book is to bring home the fact that “conversion is the only means by which a radically bad person can be changed into a radically good person. The fact stands clear and unassailable that with conversion, a person consciously wrong, inferior, and unhappy, becomes consciously right, superior, and happy. It produces not a change, but a revolution in character .It does not alter, it creates a new personality. Men who have been irretrievably bad, under conversion have become ardent savers of the lost. Written in 1909, it contains heartwarming stories of rebirth and recovery during the later part of the 19th Century. The principles that guide the Salvation Army of today were put down during late 1800’s. Many of the same principles are guiding the members of Alcoholics Anonymous today. A number of Recovering alcoholics from the A.A, fellowship have turned to The Salvation Army for More spiritual support and for additional service work. The concept of helping others with the same or similar problem, had it birthplace with the Salvationists taking a man off the streets, changing his life, and having him serve to change the lives of others lives on today in the Salvation Army. It has gotten stronger and farther reaching since its inception in the mid 1800’s
