Medicinal Hyssop

SKU: hhys $1.00
Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) Perennial. Leaves, stems and flowers are the parts used medicinally. Likes moist, rich soil in sun or shade. Press into soil and keep moist until germination, which takes about a week. Water only gently so as not to dislodge germinating roots. Will slowly spread to form a patch if given regular water, so keep in pots or inside a border for control. Hyssop is taken internally for liver and gallbladder conditions, intestinal inflammation, coughs, the common cold, respiratory infections, sore throat, asthma, urinary tract infection, flatulence, colic, anorexia, poor circulation, HIV/AIDS, dysmenorrhea, and for digestive and intestinal problems. Externally, hyssop is used as a gargle; in baths to induce sweating; and for treating skin irritations, burns, bruises, and frostbite. In foods, hyssop oil and extract are used as a flavoring. In manufacturing, hyssop oil is used as a fragrance in soaps and cosmetics. (medical usage data: Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database; Please note: 30 seeds per pack.
