Under the British Raj, Indian included 565 "princely states" under their own semi-independent rulers. At the 1947 founding of independent India almost all of them opted to join either India or Pakistan, but the largest, Hyderabad, balked at becoming part of India. Its ruler, the Nizam Osman Ali Khan, chose independent for his state or, barring that, accession to Pakistan. Indian leaders refused to allow a large Muslim nation within their borders, leaving land-locked Hyderabad with few options. Muslim activists armed themselves and prepared to resist the Indians. While the Nizam frantically tried to expand his 22,000-strong regular army and Qasim Razwi gathered 200,000 fanatic militiamen, the Indians prepared their Operation Polo to conquer Hyderabad. In September 1948, the Indian Army began a four-pronged assault. Four days later, the Nizam surrendered. Indian Unity is a supplement for the Panzer Grenadier system based on the battles waged between India and Hyderabad in 1948. This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Eastern Front, Desert Rats, Road to Berlin, Cassino '44 and Elsenborn Ridge. There are 10 scenarios, each based on an actual battle.
