STACHYBOTRYS CHARTARUM (ARA) SEARCH AND
ID EXAM
Part # 2002-1
- W. E. Kuriger Associates' airspill.com
introduces the Stachybotrys chartarum (S. atra, S. alternans)
search and ID exam for your home, office or factory.
The fungus Stachybotrys chartarum
(pronounced stak-e-bought-tris) grows on wet paper and wood products,
such as the paper layer of sheetrock wallboard, ceiling tiles
and plywood. The spores of Stachybotrys are not readily airborne,
and therefore may not be found in standard air settling tests.
When could Stachybotrys molds
become an indoor air problem? - when building materials become
wet or moist from water damage caused by leaks, high humidity,
condensation or flooding.
What are some of the symptoms
of mold exposure? - runny nose, eye irritation, bronchial congestion,
coughing, asthma - Please note other indoor air pollutants can
also cause some of these symptoms.
Order the Stachybotrys Search
and ID Exam and we will send you two sterile petri dishes and
two sterile swabs for sample collection. You scrape or place
a piece of the suspect material on the dishes, re-close with
our handy tapes and return by mail to our microbiology laboratory.
We will incubate the petri dishes for up to five days and then
search for Stachybotrys and other fungi including Memnoniella,
Penicillium, Aspergillus, Fusarium, Cladosporium and Trichoderma.
These are common molds that can produce mycotoxins. We then return
the results to you in the form of a written report.
Combine with the airspill.com
Settling Test (Part # 2001-3) for a thorough microbiological
examination of the indoor air in your residence, office or factory.
