| Warmly welcoming all new subscribers to "Shine!"
It's always great to be acknowledged for your work, and I couldn’t be more pleased to be a recipient of an Outstanding Achievement Award at the annual GAHP conference last week. You’ve heard the name before, as I have been associated for some time with the GAHP (in long form it’s the Global Association of Holistic Psychotherapists & Coaches).
With the name “Shine,” this event was right up my alley, and I have returned home aglow and afire. I am ever more deeply committed to my passion of offering psychotherapy in a way that returns it to its original roots as care of the soul, and I am eager to take action and step forward in a bigger way.
One of the tools we can use to care for our soul is to manage our emotions. The article in this issue, “4 Ways Your Emotions May Be Getting Stuck (And What You Can Do About It),” may give you some insight into your emotional patterns.
May we all step more fully into our greatness.

4 Ways Your Emotions May Be Getting Stuck (And What You Can Do About It)
By Kailean Welsh
Emotions are energy in motion. When we experience them, they either move through our body or they get stuck, creating pockets of emotional debris that impede the flow of energy through our system.
Our life experiences, the thoughts we have about them, our emotional response, and our belief system, all come together in our body. The body is our vehicle and it carries the impact of our life to date, for good or for bad.
Negative emotions and negative thoughts have a different energetic frequency than healthy cells and tissue. Because of that, stuck negative emotion can distort the organs, tissues and cells that surround wherever they’re stored in the body. They change our body chemistry and affect our physical structure.
When emotions get stuck, they fester until, ultimately, they interfere with our functioning..
Whatever gets buried gets ugly.
When an emotional charge is held, unexpressed in the body, we develop a sort of body armor. This is essentially a wall that contains our emotional body, or as Eckhart Tolle called it, our“pain body.” Our emotional expression then becomes restricted to the emotional patterns that are fixated within this energy field: it becomes very easy to express sadness, anger, hurt, loneliness, unworthiness, if that is where we got stuck.

Ten Seconds to Center: The Centering Flow
Being able to stay centered and calm in difficult or chaotic situations is an essential skill. The more you practice this technique, the easier it will be for you to use when you really need it.
Place one hand on the lower abdomen (the second chakra) and one hand at the mid-chest (the heart chakra). Imagine your breath and energy moving back and forth between the two hands with each breath. Focus on the lower abdomen and the heart and give the mind a rest from any concerns.
Do this for 10 to 20 breaths.

Courageous Hearts: Soul Nourishing Stories to Inspire You to Embrace Your Fears and Follow Your Dreams
I knew when I first heard the title of this book that I had to be a part of it.
I have come to realize that my life has required one courageous step after another, yet I often catch myself using thoughts or words that reflect a different story. This more negative perspective carries the story line that I’m NOT strong enough, or brave enough, or don’t have enough gumption to take my self and my life to the next level.
It’s time for a new story, one that acknowledges not only for me, but for all of us, that while life on planet earth may not be easy, we can and do, keep moving forward.
This book is full of those kinds of stories—personal and heart-centered narratives of life experiences in which fear could have taken over, but with courage and trust in something greater, women were able to open their lives to a deeper, richer experience.
Published by Inspired Living Publications, the book was released this week and quickly skyrocketed to bestseller status on multiple lists on Amazon. It can be purchased at www.CourageousHeartsBook.com
“Kailean listens. As we talk and she really hears me, she will identify a supportive tool or concept and offer it to me, helping me to see a way to work with the issue, gently putting the responsibility of growing back into my own hands. She is empowering me for my own journey and that is a gift indeed.”
