Import Products

Return to the Import/Export Menu

The Import Products page offers you a way to import your database of products. You can also use the Import Products feature to update the existing list of products you may already have in your database easily by re-importing them with the desired modifications made in the file. This feature can also be used to import on mass your products options. This is particularly helpful when you are marketing clothing or something similar when all or many items have the same set of sizes and colors.

At the top of the page you will find a drop down box called Select Import Type. From here you can choose either Product Details, Product Option Details or Product Image Details.

Selecting the Product Details option will allow you to import your files in either CSV (Comma Separated Values) or Tab Delimited text. It is highly recommended to use Excel or another database program to create your file in either of these formats.  Product is the only mandatory field. If you are not importing any data for one or more of the fields, you can simply not include those fields in your import file. The fields may appear in any order in the file but the columns first row must contain the correct column header. The ID field should not be included in files that are designed to import brand new products to your database. The ID field is designed to assist you in doing mass updates to your already imported products, such as price changes, or inventory changes.

It is also important to remember that fields that request numbers such as weight, price, and recurring cycle should include numbers only and no special characters or symbols such as units of measurement (lb.. oz.) or currency symbols such as $.

To increase the efficiency of the Product Import tool you can import any or all of the fields listed below. Keep in mind that the field name (of included fields only) must be included in the first row of the import file. For instance if you wish to import product names and prices only, the top of the column should say Product and in column two is should say price, while all rows beneath that will include the product names and prices respectively. You may include:

If you have an existing product database, make sure you have formatted it correctly (csv or tab delimited with the appropriate column headings) and save it to your local hard drive.

Once you are ready, select the format of your file from the drop down box then use the Browse button to search for your saved file, and Upload the file to our system. This process can save you a lot of time and effort if you are adding a large number of products to your database on our system.

If you choose the Product Option Details selection this will allow you to import your files in either CSV (Comma Separated Values) or Tab Delimited text. It is highly recommended to use Excel or another database program to create your file in either of these formats.
